About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
What You'll Do
- →VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional This Senior Social Worker is assigned primarily to the Emergency Department (ED) to provide direct services for adult Veterans and their families who present for services.
- →Provides suicide risk assessments for those patients presenting in the ED for emotional issues.
- →Collaborates with the on- call psychiatrist by phone, when appropriate, for consultation regarding treatment and disposition for patients in the ED.
- →Completes suicide behavior reports for veterans who present with recent suicide attempts.
- →Provides family comfort/care for distraught family members who have brought the veteran in to the ED.
- →Provides individual brief therapy, crisis management, family consultation, and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with polytrauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, serious mental illness, addictions, and other serious disorders both physical and emotional.
- →Establishes and maintains effective therapeutic relationships with veterans and their families.
- →Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with people from varied backgrounds.
- →Work Schedule: Nights, with alternating weekends off.

- →Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
- →Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Requirements
