About the Role

The Full Time Permanent Senior Psychologist Service Chief (Chief Psychologist) has full responsibility for the professional management, administrative supervision, and oversight of the professional practice of psychology Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System, MVAHC (Complexity Level 1A) in the Mental Health Service Line (MHSL) which includes Community Based Outpatient Clinics (13) and the Rehabilitation and Extended Care Service Line (REC).

What You'll Do

  • The incumbent is responsible for all professional, management, and administrative aspects of psychology and vocational rehabilitation services.
  • Workload and productivity assignments and metrics are managed by the incumbent.
  • Clinical Responsibilities: Consults with and serves as a resource for other clinicians regarding the need for and development of psychological services, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and utilization of evidenced based treatments and clinical practice guidelines.
  • May provides a full range of psychological services using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.
  • This includes the following individual, couple/family, group psychotherapy, diagnostic interviews and psychological assessment.
  • Academic/Teaching/Training: May hold faculty appointment at affiliated university.
  • Responsible for the overall coordination of the Psychology Training Program and Training Committee.
  • May provide clinical supervision and training.
  • Research/Program Evaluation: Responsible for timely completion of all program evaluations and documents required by the Medical Center, VISN and VACO ensuring compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies such as JCAHO.
  • Oversees the establishment of various aspects of programs, monitors outcome measurements as appropriate within programs assigned using data-driven quality assurance processes.
  • Provides support for outcome projects using data-driven quality assurance processes including establishing and monitoring team production and performance standards and implementing patient treatment outcome and satisfaction clinical and research projects.
  • Consults with others to offer research guidance and to stimulate new research directions.
  • Prepares requests for funding proposals and grant proposals as needed.
  • Other Significant Responsibilities: VISN/VAMC Assignments: Assures the needs and rights of patients and other customers are met while also supporting VA missions.
