What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Senior Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Engine) and be responsible for serving as the senior "Engine" maritime subject matter expert.
- →The incumbent conducts analytical studies to maintain valid Coast Guard approval standards for mariner training, licensing, and documentation.
- →In this capacity, th incumbent will evaluate public training submissions and evaluator proficiency while collaborating to develop Coast Guard policies for National and STCW endorsements.
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Evaluating the maritime technical subject matter of course and program curricula..
- →Evaluating the maritime technical competence and proficiency of individuals applying to be approved as instructors, Qualified Assessors (QAs), and/or Designated Examiners (DEs)..
- →Providing recommendations for improving the course approval process based on knowledge of governing regulations and policies.
- →Preparing authoritative and explicit responses to governmental agency and public inquiries concerning training qualifications of merchant vessel personnel.
