About the Role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

What You'll Do

  • The primary responsibilities of this position are divided between provision of consultation service and crisis response to provide the level of care necessary in the preventative management of suicidal behavior.
  • Major duties include, but are not limited to: Operates at the most advanced practice level providing mental health assessment within the parameters of the independent clinical license.
  • Completes comprehensive face to face triage assessments and communicates clinically relevant information to the on-call psychiatrist.
  • Fulfills the agency mandate to provide access to twenty four hour emergency mental health services.3 Completes rapid mental health assessments for the purpose of developing crisis management plans in collaboration with other hospital service or health care providers.
  • Facilitates referrals to VA and community psychiatric facilities, demonstrates an understanding of the involuntary commitment process and keeps mental health management informed of identified needs. develop an assessment of the Veteran in collaboration with the interdisciplinary mental health and/or medical treatment team, the Veteran, family members and significant others.
  • The goal of the assessment is to highlight the Veteran's strengths, limitations, and internal/external supports and service needs in order to optimize the Veteran's functional status.
  • All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.
  • Work Schedule: Full-Time, Various schedules to include evenings and weekends.
  • Tour of duty will be determined by your supervisor.
