This position is located at Departmental Offices, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Intelligence Analysis. TFI enhances national security by applying Treasury's unique policy, enforcement, intelligence, and regulatory tools to identify, disrupt and disable terrorists, criminals, and other national security threats to the United States. As a Senior Advisor, you will provide leadership, coordination, and oversight in the development of policies and procedures.
What You'll Do
- →Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury.
- →The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14.
- →If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- →As a Senior Advisor, you will: Support the TFI Senior Official in overseeing projects involving complex and sensitive national security, intelligence, foreign policy, and law enforcement problems for which established principles, techniques, guidelines, and precedents are not directly applicable and often do not exist.
- →Ensure the TFI Senior Official is properly staffed for meetings both internal and external to Treasury.
- →Serve as primary point of entry for action items (e.g., data calls, taskers, and congressional requests) managed by other elements.
- →Evaluate and revise briefing memos and other materials on which the TFI Senior Official approval is needed and ensure such materials are received by the requester in a timely manner.
- →Ensure that the TFI Senior Official is provided with timely pertinent information required for decision-making on highly sensitive and potentially controversial issues.

- ✓All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period.
- ✓During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated.
- ✓You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period.
- ✓Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service.
- ✓If no certification is made before the probationary (or trial) period ends, your appointment will be terminated.
- ✓You are encouraged to actively engage with your supervisor, seek feedback, and understand role expectations.
- ✓Additional guidance and support will be provided during onboarding.
- ✓Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
- ✓Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
- ✓Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- ✓All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws.
- ✓A review of financial or other interests may be conducted to determine if they create any real or apparent conflict of interests with official Treasury duties.
