What You'll Do
- →This position is located in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Special Needs, Office of Community Planning and Development.
- →The Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) supports the Department's efforts to help create cohesive, economically healthy communities.
- →CPD is responsible for maintaining current information on housing needs, market conditions, and existing programs, as well as conducting research on priority housing and community development issues.
- →The Senior Advisor for Homelessness in the Office of Special Needs (OSN) plays a pivotal role in shaping and guiding the department's strategic response to homelessness.
- →This position is responsible for providing expert advice, conducting thorough research and analysis, and working closely with various stakeholders to develop innovative and effective solutions to address homelessness and increase self-sufficiency.
- →Major Duties: The incumbent is responsible for the following: Assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans to address homelessness.
- →Support the setting of measurable goals, objectives, and outcomes to guide federal homelessness initiatives.
- →Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of homelessness strategies with broader CPD and HUD goals.
- →Analyze local, state, and federal policies related to homelessness, including housing, healthcare, public safety, and social services policies.
- →Provide expert recommendations for policy development and advocacy efforts aimed at reducing homelessness and increasing self-sufficiency.
- →Collaborate with federal and state agencies to coordinate and influence policy at multiple levels of government.
- →Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
- →Foster collaboration and collective action by convening partnerships and coalitions aimed at addressing homelessness.
- →Serve as a liaison between CPD and external partners to ensure alignment of efforts across sectors.
