In this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Emergency Services Division, Police Branch, Security Services. The facility is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate for this position has experience conducting NCIC checks, verifying clearance levels for employees and visitors while ensuring customer service inquiries are resolved according to applicable guidelines.
What You'll Do
- →All MWEOC staff have emergency assignments and are considered deployed in place.
- →Exercises and activations are planned and unplanned, and may require long hours, nights, weekends and holidays.
- →All MWEOC employees are: (1) required to use a government-issued electronic device (to include cellular phones); (2) subject to recall during emergency situations; and (3) required to perform work in locations both above and below ground.
- →What will I do in this position if hired?
- →In this position, you will serve as a Security Specialist responsible for performing functions that control visitor access and movement on the facility.
- →Typical assignments include: Controlling, preparing, and issuing identification badges, cards, passes, and decals that allow access.
- →Ensuring and conducting National Crime Information Center (NCIC) checks, verifying clearance levels of employees and visitors using security databases with knowledge of fingerprinting techniques to submit for processing of contractors and federal employees.
- →Applying policy for security access, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods.
- →Assisting in the maintenance and troubleshooting of security databases to provide information and assistance to staff on personnel security polices and related matters.
- →Reviewing and resolving customer service problems and alerting actions to supervisor that may be controversial or issues resistant to conventional solutions; recommending new or revised operating procedures.
