About the Role

This position is located in the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Office of the Chief of Staff, in Hampton, Virginia. The Executive Office is organized into functional areas which include Executive Management, Executive Management Support and Administrative Support. Direction of staff throughout the medical center is exercised by the Medical Center Director.

What You'll Do

  • Duties: The primary purpose of the position is to function as principal secretarial/officer management support, performing a variety of secretarial, administrative and coordination duties which and support the work of the Medical Center Chief of Staff and executive staff.
  • Major duties include but are not limited to: Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of the staff, agency and person outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public.
  • Responds to administrative problems brought to the supervisor's attention by members of the staff or management official within or outside the agency.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication.
  • Reviews all publications, directives, and periodicals and brings those of significance to the supervisor's attention.
  • Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences for the Medical Center Chief of Staff, bringing potential conflicts to the attention of the supervisor.
  • Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office.
  • Provides general office supply and equipment support services such as obtaining standard office supplies and services, procuring or justifying the full range of office services, or answering questions concerning policies and procedures related to support/office services.
  • Purchases office supplies for office personnel using the Integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activity Accounting (IFCAP) program.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm Telework: This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework.
