About the Role

This position is located at Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center, to Social Work Service Assistant in Miami, FL. The primary purpose for this position is to provide comprehensive administrative, clerical, and programmatic support essential to the efficient operation of one of the medical center's most dynamic and mission-critical services.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs as the primary timekeeper for the Service, ensuring that requests for leave are submitted and approved in a timely manner.
  • Makes arrangements for conferences, teleconferences and meetings including reservation of appropriate rooms, notification of participants, and preparation of agendas and minutes.
  • Develops graphs, flow charts, formats, and layouts to be used in presentations and for records.
  • Manages/adjust to the day to day technical operation issues of the section and acts as the liaison between other services.
  • Provides administrative support for programs.
  • Reviews all incoming correspondence and reference material for content and intent; correspondence of a routine nature is independently responded to and prepared for signature without prior discussion.
  • Provides Customer Service to our internal, External Customers, Veterans and their families.
  • Maintains weekly and holiday schedule, including schedules for back-up coverage and weekend and holiday coverage.
  • Maintains timekeeping records; including requests for authorized absence, jury duty, and travel for all employees in the Service.
  • Establishes suspense dates and educates other staff in standards of record keeping.
  • Advises, maintains, and monitors storage and retrieval of documents and data.
  • Tracks & orders supplies.
  • Serve as ADPAC.
  • Provides administrative support for programs.
