About the Role
The Secretary (OA) is located in the Dental Service of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, SC. The incumbent serves as a primary administrative support, performing a wide variety of clerical and office duties.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Receives incoming calls from patients, clients, staff, and others in need of information.
- →Processes incoming and outgoing materials, including correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other written communications.
- →Edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, establishes and monitors suspense dates, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters.
- →Schedules meetings and maintains a calendar of appointments.
- →Performs office automation work on a personal computer using multiple programs to complete documentation.
- →Utilizes a range of software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) to prepare correspondence.
- →Maintains office supplies and equipment.
- →Prepares travel arrangements for staff.
- →Ensures office compliance with regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- →Provides training and/or coaching to subordinate clerical staff.
- →Work Schedule: Full-time, 6:30 am - 3 pm, Monday- Friday.
- →Work schedule subject to change based on agency need.
- →Telework (ad hoc): This position may be authorized for telework.
- →Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
