As a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist within the National Centers for Animal Health Safety and Security Unit, you will work to eliminate or control hazardous operations or conditions in the Veterinary Services program and be responsible for participating in the planning, development, and implementation of an occupational safety and health, environmental compliance, and wellness program specific to assignments given by the Safety Manager.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Initiates and carries out safety education activities such as, but not limited to: Hearing Conservation, Lock Out and Tag Out, Electrical Safety, Respiratory Protection, and Fire Extinguisher Training, Conducts evaluations and inspections and determines if work locations are in compliance with published standards.
- →Plans, develops, and administers permit for confined space entry program reviews.
- →Conducts accident and mishap investigations.
- →Works with the Industrial Hygienist in planning and assessing the outcome of tornado and fire drills.
- →Assists the Industrial Hygienist with conducting ergonomic assessments.

- ✓Education must have been obtained from an accredited institution.
- ✓Education completed in a foreign institution must include an evaluation by an organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs that it was deemed equivalent to an accredited U.S. education program, see: Foreign Education Evaluation.
- ✓All transcripts must be in English or include an English translation.
