This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Los Angeles District is seeking to fill a occupational safety, GS-0018-09/11 or 12 Full performance GS-12 position.
What You'll Do
- →Applies regulations, standards, and sound safety practices to detect hazardous operations and conditions and recommends proper safety and occupational health measures to eliminate or minimize the possibility of injury to personnel.
- →Plans and organizes studies and projects for work operations and problem areas for which safety standards and procedures must be applied or improved for compliance with general industry standards and construction safety and health standards.
- →Responsible for scheduling and conducting safety management evaluations of high-risk construction and operational sites located throughout the Los Angeles District.
- →Reviews operational plans, training directives and field exercises and operational procedures to ensure that assigned appropriate considerations have been evaluated and risk assessments within acceptable limits.
- →Investigates accidents involving injuries and/or material damage to determine circumstances involved and the nature of injuries and/or damages.
- →Serves as a member or technical advisor to boards investigating major accidents.
