About the Role

You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager with the National Park Service. For a more detailed list of assignments and duty stations, please the "Duties" section below.   • Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Serves as the subject matter expert and principal advisor responsible for planning, developing, directing and coordinating a safety and occupational health program for a park or group of parks.
  • Evaluates, compiles and analyzes behavioral, work environment, and accident statistical data, and prepares charts, tables and reports to communicate this information to management, staff, and others.
  • Coordinates and oversees the development of safety education and training material and conducts safety training programs for managers, supervisors, staff, and park concessionaires.
  • Coordinates and/or conducts annual inspections and ensures that programs are current and compatible with Occupational Safety and Health Program and public Risk Management Programs, park and region safety plans, and bureau and agency policies.
  • Provides guidance to and/or leads teams in investigating lost time incidents to help idetify chain of events, root causes, corrective actions, recommendations for improvement and follow-up to ensure corrective action has been taken.

Requirements

  • Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 15 nights per month.
  • You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
  • Some positions may require less travel.
