About the Role
The Marion VA Health Care System is actively recruiting a full-time Registered Nurse to join the Medicine Specialty Clinics nursing team. The incumbent functions primarily as a staff nurse in the Cardiology Clinic planning, administering, and directing nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with advanced medical/surgical needs
What You'll Do
- →This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital.
- →The incumbent may be required to rotate tours and duties during low/high census or complete administrative tasks established by the immediate supervisor.
- →Not all duties may be listed, so other duties may be assigned.
- →The incumbent is responsible to ensure the highest possible quality of care is achieved and that a safe therapeutic environment is provided.
- →The incumbent supervises care that is in accordance with established standards, hospital policies and procedures.
- →The incumbent communicates with patients, family members, internal and external co-workers and customers in a courteous, tactful, helpful, and understanding manner.
- →The incumbent is administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager and responsible for other team members.
- →The RN is required to be BLS and ACLS certified.
- →Position not eligible for telework.
- →Cath Lab Duties: The incumbent circulates and assists with the various Cardiac Cath Lab procedures, and some Echo Lab procedures and Pain Procedures The incumbent administers medication, including ACLS medications & anticoagulants.
- →The incumbent administers moderate sedation with the appropriate patient monitoring, assessment, & documentation.
- →The incumbent is responsible for monitoring patients during Cath procedures, including continuous ECG & hemodynamic monitoring, identification of cardiac arrhythmias, and response for medications and treatments.
- →The incumbent must operate complex radiographic, angiographic, and digital recording equipment. - The incumbent post-procedure, provides care to patients during both sedation and procedural recovery and assists in arterial & venous sheath removal.
- →The incumbent operates/assists in operation of various Cath Lab Lab specific equipment in sterile environments under direction of provider.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
