About the Role
The Kansas City VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for Registered Nurse (Nursing Excellence) assigned to Associate Director Patient Care Service. The RN (Nursing Excellence) will Functions as an advanced clinician and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches based on the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence (PTE) and Magnet Recognition programs to maintain nursing excellence throughout the facility.
What You'll Do
- →Registered Nurse - Nursing Excellence demonstrates leadership, experience, and creative approaches to improvement in quality-of-care outcomes.
- →The RN - Nursing Excellence are responsible for program development related to professional governance, EBP, PI, and professional development; project implementation; oversight of data collection and analysis; designing useful decision support systems; delivering educational experiences; enhancing lifelong learning; and supporting healthcare innovation.
- →Responsible and accountable for integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence the organizational mission.
- →Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, specialized experience, and creative approaches to program management and analysis.
- →Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- →Fosters positive professional practice environments by building, supporting, and creating alignments for nursing excellence and steering innovation through collaboration and stakeholder engagement across the facility, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), and enterprise.
- →Requires or authorizes employees to formulate, determine, or influence the polices of Veterans Affairs (VA).
- →Demonstrates leadership and creative approaches to the design and implementation of programs and initiatives that improve patient outcomes and engagement of nursing staff related to professional (shared) governance, evidenced-based practice (EBP), a high reliability organization (HRO), and other performance improvement (PI) tenants.
- →Demonstrates participation in strategic planning and alignment of goals at the service, facility, and national level.
- →Applies knowledge of data, information, processes, organizational interactions, skills, and analytical expertise, as well as systems, networks, and information exchange capabilities to document outcome.
- →Assumes leadership in promoting professional development and provides coaching and mentoring to nursing staff.
- →Duties require the ability to apply the specialized principles and practices of health care management in directing or supporting a health care delivery system.
- →Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals.
- →Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
