About the Role
The Veterans Affairs Oklahoma City Health Care System is seeking a Registered Nurse/Nurse Manager for Nursing, Acute Care providing or supervising direct patient care. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate delivery of care based on age specific components. Assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
What You'll Do
- →VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed.
- →The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
- →Major duties include, but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operations of designated units.
- →Provides coverage for other Nurse Managers.
- →Supervises and directs orientation, training, development of staff and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Functions as role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team to enhance care outcomes.
- →Demonstrates specialized knowledge and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Delivers self-directed, professional nursing practice using the nursing process for complex patients based on conscious and deliberate planning with occasional supervision.
- →Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
