About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →This posting is for the VANTHCS Mental Health (MH) Executive Nurse Manager position for all outpatient nursing services.
- →The Nurse Manager is a member of the MH Executive Leadership Group and provide strategic leadership and operational oversight, partnering with executive leadership and multidisciplinary teams to plan, organize, and direct administrative, clinical, and personnel activities.
- →In this role, the Nurse Manager engages regularly with other executive leadership members to discuss process initiatives, quality improvement priorities-including Measurement-Based Care (MBC), SAIL, and suicide prevention-regulatory compliance, and process redesign efforts to advance patient care outcomes.
- →This position reports directly to the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Mental Health Services.
- →The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the 24/7 operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed.
- →Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence- based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- →Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- →Equips staff with tools for culturally competent care and promotes a culture of accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
- →Cultivates alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
- →Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
- →Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
