About the Role
The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN)-Assistant Nurse Manager of Float Pool. This position helps to maintain optimal coverage for facility NOD as well as supervising front line float pool staff which helps to maintain and improve our quality of care, timeliness of standards, and meeting mandatory work requirements and expectations with holding high levels of accountability across the service in our HRO culture.
What You'll Do
- →Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.
- →Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
- →Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
- →Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and creating innovative process improvement initiatives.
- →Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
- →Provide coverage for other ANMs as needed.
- →Has responsibility and accountability for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
- →Function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
- →Enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- →Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth.
- →Adhere to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels.
- →Provides unit staffing coverage as needed.
- →Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care.
- →Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.

- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓(Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6); OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant an appointment as a Nurse who has completed an associated degree/entry level Nursing education program.
