About the Role
About the position: This position is a Flexible Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position assigned to the Ft Eustis Aquatics Center on Joint Base Langley-Eustis VA - Ft Eustis location. Flex positions have no guaranteed hours but can work 0-40 hours per week. This position may be subject to holidays, nights, weekends and on-call work.
What You'll Do
- →The purpose of these positions is to serve as a lead lifeguard over three or more lifeguards in the performance of lifeguard and related aquatics program duties.
- →Provides on-the-job training to new employees.
- →Checks on work in progress and reviews completed work to ensure that procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met.
- →Demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance, ensures that the worksite materials and tools are available.
- →Checks pool water chemistry according to established schedules and instructions (e.g., temperature, chlorine, pH, etc.) Monitors activities within assigned swimming areas, maintaining order and enforcing established rules of safety and behavior.
- →Observes the condition and behavior of swimmers to ascertain any potential problems.
- →Perform lifeguard duties.
- →Rescues and resuscitates individuals in danger of drowning and renders first aid to injuries.
- →Uses a variety of techniques such as artificial respiration, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and first aid.
- →Assist in cleaning and maintaining the swimming facility.
- →Cleans swimming assigned areas such as bathrooms, decks, locker rooms, showers, and pool according to established schedules and instructions.
- →Reports issues of performance, progress, training needs, or disciplinary problems to supervisor.
- →Completes appropriate paperwork to include, but not limited to, daily log sheets, AF Form 708, incident reports, etc.
- →Verifies that customers are authorized to use facility by checking appropriate identification.

- ✓This position does not allow for education substitution.
- ✓FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
- ✓You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
- ✓It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
