About the Position: Serves as a member of the staff of range control, providing technical subject matter support on safety related matters. Participates in the total planning, operation, safety, and supply support of all West Point Live-Fire Training and Maneuver areas, airspace and impact areas.
What You'll Do
- →Work with the Installation Range Officer in the planning, development, and execution of safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- →Establish a Range Safety Program for the installation commander.
- →Serve as a member of the technical design team for all training complex construction actions with a focus on safety of use.
- →Identify factors generating elevated risk conditions and resolves these issues during the planning phase of construction.
- →Write, staff, and publish the West Point range and maneuver/ training area regulations and develop procedures for compliance with higher headquarters directives.
- →Advise commanders and Unit Training Officers on current and anticipated future policies, objectives, and programs as they pertain to range facility operations.
- →Develop and process requests and renewal requests for non-standard range waivers.
- →Implement and serve as staff advisor on all accident prevention matters to include safety management, safety policies, safety procedures, accident reporting and analysis.
