About the Position: This position provides emergency response dispatching of law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services to the public by answering emergency calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. The work is performed in a highly stressful restricted office environment.
What You'll Do
- →This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-05 / 06 grade level.
- →At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will: Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls.
- →Responsible for determining nature of the call.
- →Prioritizes all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls.
- →Identifies the determinant and level of response and provides this and any additional information to the responding units.
- →Provides emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority emergency medical dispatch system.
- →Monitors status and availability of police, fire and medical units to assure an appropriate response is made.
- →Maintains reports and retrieves needed statistical information using the fire incident reporting system(s).
