About the Role

As part of NASA Force, you will tackle mission-critical engineering challenges to advance NASA's exploration, research, and technology priorities, contributing to high-impact projects and innovative solutions advancing human spaceflight and scientific discovery. Positions may be in the following Engineering Occupational Series: 0830, 0850, 0854, 0861. Opportunities are available across NASA Centers nationwide, supporting a wide range of missions that advance the Agency's strategic priorities.

What You'll Do

  • Provides technical expertise in aerospace, nuclear, mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering to address complex technical challenges and support mission-critical programs.
  • Leads technical efforts across organizational boundaries and provides authoritative guidance to senior officials on highly complex engineering matters.
  • Conducts advanced engineering analysis, design, test, and evaluation on mission-critical systems.
  • Applies expert judgment to resolve complex technical problems and recommends optimal solutions.
  • Advises senior leadership and program managers on complex technical and programmatic matters.
  • Participates in technical forums, boards, and reviews at the agency and interagency levels.
  • Develops engineering standards, technical policies, and requirements documents at the program or enterprise level.
  • Authors technical reports and assessments that inform senior leadership decisions.
  • Provides technical mentorship and discipline leadership across experience levels.
  • Serves as a functional area expert supporting long-term organizational technical capability and engineering workforce development.
  • Participates in technical exchanges with contractors, partner agencies, and external entities as a subject matter expert in applicable engineering discipline.

Requirements

  • If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
  • Applicants who do not fully meet the basic education requirement may still be considered if they possess exceptional relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience, that clearly demonstrates significant full performance-level achievement directly related to the duties of this position.
  • Engineering degrees earned within the United States: Engineering degrees earned within the United States must be from a college or university that has at least one ABET accredited engineering program.

  • Engineering degrees earned outside the United States: Engineering degrees earned outside the United States must be recognized by a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), often known as accords.

  • MRAs recognize the substantial equivalence of mature accreditation systems and programs accredited by signatory organizations within their jurisdictions.

  • Science and other related degrees earned within the United States: Science and other related degrees must have been awarded from colleges or universities that are accredited by recognized accrediting organizations.

  • These education credentials must be deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
