About the Role

The Psychology Technician position is in San Antonio, Texas in the Mental Health Product Line. The Psychology Technician falls under the auspices of the Neuropsychology (NP) Program within Psychology Service and is under the direct supervision of the NP Program Manager of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS).

What You'll Do

  • ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Administers and scores standardized neuropsychological and psychological assessment instruments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conducts comprehensive neuropsychological testing for veterans during in-person, face-to-face, telehealth, or remote testing sessions as appropriate.
  • Observes, records, and documents patient behaviors and testing results to support accurate neuropsychological evaluations and diagnoses.
  • Assists in the assessment of patients with complex neurological, psychological, and cognitive disorders by administering specialized testing batteries.
  • Provides testing instructions to patients and creates an appropriate, safe, and supportive testing environment to ensure valid assessment results.
  • Documents assessment findings and patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record in accordance with VA policy.
  • Communicates test results and behavioral observations to neuropsychologists and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Maintains clinical and research data, including test records, databases, and other information used to support patient care and research activities.
  • Applies knowledge of neuropsychological assessment techniques to administer, score, and assist in interpreting complex standardized psychological tests.
  • Operates specialized assessment equipment and testing materials while ensuring proper administration, security, and quality of neuropsychological testing services.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Work Schedule: Full-Time; Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized.
  • Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not approved.
