About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →The Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center provides health care services at 6 locations, serving southwestern West Virginia, southeastern Ohio, and eastern Kentucky.
- →Facilities include our Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, and four community-based outpatient clinics in Lenore, W.Va., South Charleston, W.Va.; Gallipolis, Ohio; and Prestonsburg, Kentucky.
- →We also provide a Community Resource and Referral Center in Huntington, W.Va.
- →The Physician - Psychiatrist will perform general psychiatric assessment and treatment in a multi- disciplinary setting composed of psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, nurse practitioners and psychopharmacologists.
- →This position will work closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art outpatient mental health care.
- →This role will be a key participant in the implementation of the principles of Advanced Clinic Access in mental health.
- →The employee shall work under the direction of the Psychiatry Section Chief and Chief of Mental Health.
- →Duties include by are not limited to the following: Provide treatment for beneficiaries with general psychiatric disorders in a variety of treatment, including tele-mental health.
- →The employee must be skilled in Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology.
- →Must be able to provide a comprehensive clinical summary/psychiatric summary.
- →The employee will complete all required Talent Management System (TMS) training in a timely manner.
- →The employee shall document patient care in the patient chart via the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS).
- →Training regarding the use of the CPRS will be provided by the VAMC.
- →All Documentation shall be completed in accordance with VA policy and procedures.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
