About the Position: The Project Management Specialist accomplishes many project management duties in the day to day management of each project. The degree of oversight by the Project Manager will depend on the complexity of the project. The incumbent is responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scoping, development, design, construction, and direction of assigned projects.
What You'll Do
- →At the full performance grade, you will: Responsible for managing the efficient and effective coordination and accomplishment of the planning, scoping, development, design, construction, and direction of assigned projects.
- →Control and manage project milestones and budgets from preliminary stages through completion.
- →Monitor project funds allocated to District elements, consistent with scheduled work, and measures and monitors performance to assure commitments of all parties are being maintained.
- →Reviews project progress, measuring performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed upon schedule and cost.
Requirements
- ✓At the GS-09 Level: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level which prepared you to do the work in this job.
- ✓Specialized Experience: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting with project schedules, budgets, documentation, risk tracking, stakeholder coordination, and project status reporting.
- ✓OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. with a major course of study in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related discipline to the position.
- ✓OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
- ✓To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
- ✓Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
- ✓Add the two percentages.
- ✓At the GS-11 Level: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level which prepared you to do the work in this job.
- ✓OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major course of study in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related discipline to the position.
- ✓OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
- ✓To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
- ✓Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18.
- ✓Add the two percentages.
- ✓Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.
