A Program Support Assistant located in the Housing and Urban Development-VA Supported Housing (HUD-VASH) Program with the VA Homeless Program located at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. The purpose of this position is to perform administrative and program analysis work and ensure program compliance of Veterans in the HUD/VASH Program. The HUD-VASH Program is a subgroup under the Homeless Program under the office of Social Work Service.
What You'll Do
- →The PSA is responsible for reviewing and assigning initial intake assessments and scheduling and completion of orientation for Veterans seeking housing vouchers.
- →Incumbent assists with new staff onboarding process, serves as HUD/VASH timekeeper and back up for the service line, performs various clerical duties such as reminder calls and mailing correspondence, assists with action items and the implementation of new processes; assists with program events such as Housing Fairs, Homeless Stand down and Annual CHALENG Survey efforts.
- →The incumbent will interface with personal computer (PC) applications, databases, and applications.
- →This position requires excellent relational and communication skills; advanced knowledge of and experience with computers; oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with others; particularly homeless populations and community providers that help these populations.
- →This position also requires independence of action, general latitude for decision making and knowledge.
- →The Incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant (PSA) in support of the Homeless Program Manager, HUD/VASH Program Supervisor and other assigned multidisciplinary program staff (HUD/VASH team).
- →The PSA aids the HUD/VASH Supervisor in getting things accomplished through an extensive knowledge and understanding of the organization, regulations, methods, and the other tools or recourses of management.
- →The PSA assists in the establishment and enrollment of Veterans into the HUD/VASH program and acts as the liaison, provides coordination and collaboration of services with VA eligibility, travel, budget, non-VA care services and other departments throughout the VA Health Care System.
- →The PSA accepts and facilitate follow up from homeless program telephone calls from patients, family members, caregivers, homeless program staff in the field, other VA staff, and/or community agency staff, regarding program inquiries, patient care concerns, etc.
- →The PSA obtains as much information as possible, coordinate with homeless program leadership and staff information to resolves problems independently, when possible, prioritizes, and makes decisions regarding caller referral based on specific caller needs in collaboration with the homeless leadership/staff.
- →The PSA assists the team to ensure the secure transmission and receipt of documents needed to make eligibility and discharge determinations.
- →The PSA has primary responsibility for establishment, monitoring, and maintenance of clinic profiles in the Homeless Program.
- →The Incumbent works with Managerial Cost Accounting & Decision Management (MCA&DM) staff and clinical services to ensure the clinic stop code information corresponds with the DSS stop code identifiers.
- →Within each clinic profile, the Incumbent is responsible for programming detailed encounter form and action profile settings, setting appointment length and overbook capacity and managing the assignments of cases to the caregiver program clinics.
