This vacancy is for a GS-0301-12, Program Specialist (MWR) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION in WASHINGTON, District of Columbia.
What You'll Do
- →You will serve as a Program Specialist (MWR) and be responsible for planning, organizing, and administering morale, well-being and recreation (MWR) activities, and programs that promote the physical, creative and social development of its participants.
- →The position supports a large military and civilian program designed to enhance the morale and well-being of the personnel (and authorized dependents) and fosters the increased retention of personnel in which the Coast Guard has invested resources through training and development.
- →Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
- →Typical work assignments include: Developing, coordinating, and managing an extensive volunteer program.
- →Identifying tasks and or functions that are appropriate for volunteers, publicizing the need, and selecting volunteers.
- →Providing guidance to contractors daily as they utilize and provide activities within the facilities and campus.
- →Serves as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for assigned contracts, task orders, and purchase orders, providing technical oversight and monitoring contractor performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
- →Developing operating budget requests for submission to appropriate Coast Guard and DHS approving officials.
- →Providing all administrative functions related to the maintenance and procurement of equipment and materials used to operate the Fitness facility and all MWR related activities, must understand and properly follow Appropriated and non-appropriated fund policies.
- →Serving as the technical expert in wellness and recreational programs.
- →Providing information and/or recommendations to higher levels based on personal knowledge and judgment, as well as on findings derived from review, evaluation and interpretation of a variety of complex subjects peculiar to the Morale, Well-being and Recreation function.
- →Arranging, attending and/or conducting meetings related to Base activities and staff such as the Non-Appropriated Fund Advisory Board (NAFA), Morale committee meetings, morale officer meetings, and other activities that require MWR director participation, knowledge and/or oversight.
- →Providing a record keeping system to ensure maintenance and progress reports of equipment and programs are up to date and available to command.
- →Serving within the Personnel Support Department for Base NCR and will perform collateral duties in support of personnel such as but not limited to: Coast Guard Mutual Assistance Representative.
