About the Role

The Lexington VA Health Care System is seeking a highly skilled, motivated individual to serve as the Program Manager - Controlled Substance Coordinator (CSC) within Quality Service. As CSC, you will play a critical role in the oversight and management of the Controlled Substance Inspection Program (CSIP), ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting patient safety, and preventing diversion within our facility.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Investigates inspection findings to ensure receipt of adequate corrective action plans from clinic Service Line Managers.
  • Categorizes and determine inspection findings and other incident reports.
  • Maintains the inspection rotation schedule in compliance with consecutive inspection restrictions, inspector terms, and competencies.
  • Manages technical and administrative direction, schedule assignments, respond to questions, resolve conflicts, set deadlines, and find coverage for unexpected absences.
  • Tracks program metrics and non-adherence to regulations.
  • Decides the methodologies to use in achieving work goals and objectives and continuously monitor and improve inspection methods.
  • Consolidates reports from CSIs, Omnicell's and/or inspection areas.
  • Evaluates CSI performance and assess training needs to assure inspector competencies.
  • Writes monthly and quarterly reports and present quarterly at the QPSC meeting.
  • Provides leadership, advice, and instruction to the high-level stakeholders relative to the CSIP operations and current analysis of the program.
  • Provides technical guidance, training, understanding, and improvement concepts.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of regular, effective education and training for all controlled substance inspectors on issues relating to the CSIP.
  • Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
  • Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
