The Dayton VAMC is looking for an Outpatient-Specialty Care LPN. The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical/License Vocational Nurse is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran. This position is within the Outpatient Specialty Clinics within Surgical and Procedural Care Nursing Service.

- →VA Careers - Licensed Practical Nurse: https://youtube.com/embed/Ae85IP1Oiz4 Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides for nutrition, elimination and hygiene needs of the patient/resident.
- →Assists with the movement and mobility of the patient/resident by turning, lifting, moving, transferring and escorting patient/resident.
- →Participates in the admission, transfer and discharge of the patient/resident.
- →Completes the wound risk scale.
- →Completes the fall risk assessment.
- →Provides teaching, such as medications and equipment/special instructions, to patients/residents and their families.
- →Contributes to the interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of the patient's/resident's treatment plan.
- →Completes walking rounds and receives report on all patient/resident with oncoming and off-going charge person or team leader.
- →Performs assigned technical procedures.
- →Prepares and administers medications, as outlined in the policy and procedure manual.
- →Inserts and replaces nasogastric feeding tube.
- →Replaces a non-sutured gastrostomy tube in which the tract has been established (usually 3-4 weeks after insertion).
- →Initiates IV Therapy (Must have an Ohio Board of Nursing Intravenous Therapy card or be approved to start IVs through their state licensing authority).
- →Recognizes critical patient/resident care situations.
Requirements
