About the Role

Licensed Practical Nurse/Vocational Nurse - Ambulatory Care Portsmouth, Virginia. Hampton VA Healthcare System The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the designated Nurse Manager and is responsible and accountable for the provision of patient care and for delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population

What You'll Do

  • Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to infection control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment.
  • Seeks guidance from RN and/or provider regarding resolution of clinical issues.
  • May be assigned other duties deem necessary to support organizational goals.
  • Administers medication accurately and promptly under the general supervision of a RN.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the effects and/or reactions caused by medications, treatments, and procedures.
  • Records and reports these observations to RN.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and is able to effectively work in a high- pressure environment and maintain good interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrates resilience in the face of setbacks Effectively incorporates knowledge and understanding of established customer service standards in all interactions with veterans, family members, and/or internal/external customers Performs personal care, diagnostic support duties and treatments according to procedure under the direction of the RN in a timely manner.
  • Responds to patient's nursing needs, including physical comfort, and emotional needs and recognizing problems from the normal.
  • Ability to acknowledge and report technical issues that may delay or impede productive work efforts.
  • Independently established priorities and varies the sequence of nursing care based on the patient's conditions and/or response to treatment in or to accomplish assigned tasks with limited supervision by the end of tour.
  • Participates and reinforces resources and referrals.
  • Completes assignments in a timely manner with constructive utilization of remining time.
  • Uses effective time management; pro-actively seeks assignments when work is completed and is focused on completing tasks effectively, timely, and accurately Work Schedule: 8:00-4:30pm Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
