The mission of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for missing personnel from the Nation's past conflicts to their families and the Nation. DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover, and identify remains of DoW personnel uncounted for from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Persian Gulf War, and Iraq conflicts. The Director, DPAA (SES-III), reports to the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness.
What You'll Do
- →Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Develops, coordinates, and publishes policy and regulatory guidance related to accounting for missing U.S. personnel from past global hostilities.
- →Serves as a liaison for disinterments with external entities such as Service Casualty Offices and the American Battle Monuments Commission.
- →Manages and ensures the quality of data for disinterment cases using various tracking systems.
- →Represents the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) with a variety of Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) organizations.
- →Analyzes standard operating procedures and other documents to determine their impact on the personnel accounting community.
- →This includes providing briefings, developing guidance, and performing continuous appraisal of the community's efforts.
