About the Role
The Plumber serves in the Maintenance and Operation section with Facilities Management Services, at James A. Haley, Veterans' Hospital, in Tampa Florida. Works from building plans, blueprints, and sketches, to plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, slope, fall and proper operation, of systems and equipment.
What You'll Do
- →The Plumber will work at a journeyman level, conducting repairs, modifications, and installations that is required to be neat, plumbed, level or sloped in accordance with trade practices.
- →Work will be performed with little, or no supervision and in compliance with manufacturer instructions and specifications.
- →Duties include: Reviews actions for compliance to local and national codes, proper trade practices and makes recommendations for proposed projects.
- →Performs installation, replacement, modification, preventive maintenance and repair on variety of plumbing systems.
- →Determines and installs valves, traps, and unions needed for the proper operation of systems.
- →Estimates and assembles joints and fittings required to install or repair equipment.
- →Lays or hangs pipe and taps water and sewage lines, insulates pipe to prevent loss of heat and waterproofs outside pipelines.
- →Cut holes in walls, floors, ceiling or roof through which pipe will pass or equipment will be installed.
- →Makes periodic visual inspections on mechanical piping systems.
- →Checks for leaks, defective parts and any abnormal functioning of systems.
- →Makes on the spot adjustments and repairs and performs preventive maintenance.
- →Reports findings to supervisor, records time and material used on work orders.
- →Constructs dust barriers based on Infection Control and Life Safety Risk Assessments.
- →Ensures that job site is clean of all debris and equipment upon the completion of work.
Requirements
