About the Role

Serves as Journeyman Pipefitter within the Facilities Management Service/Engineering Branch at the Orlando VA Medical Center. Employee is responsible to the WS-4701-10, Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. The Journeyman Pipefitter will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and operations of all pipefitting duties that encompass the installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of all varieties of plumbing, kitchen equipment, medical gas piping systems, steam systems etc.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include, but are not limited to: Install, maintain, repair and inspect all varieties of plumbing and gas piping systems and mechanical equipment used in the facility.
  • Periodically inspect piping, valves, control fittings and auxiliary equipment of steam plant, gas fired equipment and steam, gas and water distribution systems for defects.
  • Make rough sketches or prints of newly installed equipment to be delivered to the Pipe and Metal Supervisor for the purpose of updating the Master piping and plumbing blueprints.
  • Erect or suspend scaffolding in the performance of duties and is responsible for the proper care and maintenance of his tools and equipment.
  • Insure all tools and equipment are properly functioning and are safe for use.
  • Construct necessary dust barriers and/or block-off areas as needed for the safety and protection of patients, staff, visitors and equipment.
  • Work Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday or Monday-Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm, 3:00 pm-11:30 pm, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am or Sunday to Thursday 7:00am - 3:30pm, 3:00pm - 11:30pm, 11:00pm-7:30am or Monday to Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, 3:00pm-11:30pm, 11:00pm - 7:30am.
  • Exact TOD for this position will be discussed during the interview and may be adjusted to meet the facility/department needs.
