About the Role
This position is located in the Plumbing Shop within the Maintenance and Repair (M&R) Section of Facilities Management Service (FMS) at both the Lyons Campus and the East Orange Campus oft he VA New Jersey Healthcare System. The position involves the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of high-temperature and high pressure piping systems such as steam heating and steam-generating systems.
What You'll Do
- →Repairs or re-pipe damaged steam lines, and condensate lines to systems up to 100 lbs. of steam pressure.
- →Trained in confined space entry to make necessary repairs in steam pits, vaults and/or confined spaces involving overhead work.
- →Fabricates, installs and repairs various types of plumbing systems such as water distribution, pumped condensate return systems, air, gas, sanitary and oxygen systems.
- →Performs routine maintenance and repairs.
- →Cleans and unplugs drain stoppages in sanitary and storm sewers by use of plungers, augers, various size snake machines and the power jetting machine.
- →Measures pipe and their required cuts, threads and reams.
- →Perform various duties associated with using blueprints, charts and sketches to plan and layout the installation, maintenance and repair of high temperature, high pressure piping systems and their associated equipment.
