About the Role
This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, Industrial Department, Mechanical Group in Baltimore, MD.
What You'll Do
- →You will perform the skilled journeyman tasks involved in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul and conversion of a wide variety of types and sizes of marine craft and vessels at the Yard.
- →Being a civilian working for the Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member.
- →Typical duties include: Setting up system routes, placing and cutting route openings, installing regulating devices, and placing hangars for proper pitch and elevation.
- →Determining and installing risers, flexible branches, expansion joints, pumps, gauges, and pressure regulators in the combination needed to support the pressures of the systems and to ensure the proper operation of the systems.
- →Replacing sections of pipe; repairing steam traps and relieving control valves.
- →Cutting, threading and connecting pipes by means of union, flanges, and sweating.
- →Testing systems and equipment for proper operation, circulation, flow, pressure and leak-free joints.
- →Assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fillings and fixtures of steam heating, water, and sanitary and storm drainage systems and low pressure air according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- →Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
