About the Role
The Supervisory Pipefitter position is an integral part of the Facility Management Service (FMS) at the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SG VHS). The primary purpose of this role is to oversee the Plumbing/Machine shop, a team comprised of a Maintenance Inspector, four Pipefitters, and two Industrial Equipment Mechanics who are responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of the medical center plumbing and mechanical systems, machine work, and emergency / generators.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties include but are not limited to: Independently lays out work assignments and delegates tasks to team members based on expertise.
- →Complete administrative tasks such as preparing memos, purchase orders, and maintaining inventory control records, using appropriate computer systems and software.
- →Establish deadlines and priorities while remaining flexible with the ability to redirect workers on unanticipated projects or emergency repairs.
- →Estimate for equipment and facility repairs and prepares and submits documents in the electronic contract management system.
- →Ensure compliance with various regulatory standards (BOCA, NFPA, NEC, TJC) and maintains documentation of inspections and compliance checks.
- →Participate in construction planning meetings and performs quality control inspections to verify contractor adherence to specifications and codes.
- →Establish deadlines and priorities while remaining flexible with the ability to redirect workers on unanticipated projects or emergency repairs.
- →Responsible for supply inventory control.
- →Effectively plan, coordinate, communicate, and supervise complex maintenance and repair operations ensures the provision of a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- →Coordinates the work of all the trades under his/her direction, ensuring smooth workflow to minimize down time.
- →Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Pipefitter Supervisor/PD061200 Physical Requirements: All work is performed within a hospital setting.
- →Incumbent must be physically able to stand, stoop, turn, crouch, and balance in difficult positions.
- →The incumbent must be able to climb ladders, work in close physical spaces, and lift up to 60 pounds when necessary.
- →The incumbent will be required to supervise from/on scaffolding high ladders, or rooftops outside in inclement weather including extreme heat and during hurricane alerts.
Requirements
