About the Role
Cardiologists are internal medicine specialists who care for patients at risk for and w/heart disease. The field includes medical diagnosis, treatment of coronary heart disease & failure, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, heart rhythm disorders. Cardiac electrophysiologists recognize normal and abnormal anatomy of the heart and the conduction system, general physiology and heart EP and basic mechanisms of rhythm disorders, syncope, sudden death and other arrhythmia disorders.
What You'll Do
- →Functions or Scopes of Practice Diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term cardiac health issues.
- →Adept at recognizing abnormalities and following established protocols, providing appropriate services and treatments or referring patients to other disciplines and services as necessary.
- →Enhance patient awareness by providing clear, supportive education on preventive care, medical conditions, and the proper use of prescribed treatments.
- →Extensive knowledge of cardiology principles, techniques, and practices, as well as current trends and developments in the field.
- →Informed of the latest research and incorporate relevant findings into clinical practice.
- →Organizes, leads, and participates in quality improvement projects related to hospital operations.
- →Engages in continuing education to maintain and enhance professional knowledge.
- →Responsible for evaluating findings and making technical recommendations independently, considered an expert in the field.
- →Able to provide care and /or services appropriate to the age of patients being served, and which is appropriate to the cognitive; emotional, chronological maturation of the patient.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
