Physician - Surgery Intensivist

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Intensivist at Central Virginia VA Health Care System in Richmond, Virginia. This is a full-time position in the surgical intensive care unit at a busy level 1A facility. The Surgery Intensivist is responsible for providing care to all surgical patients with critical care needs, including neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, urology, vascular and general surgery. Candidates will work with an experienced advanced practice provider (APP) team.
What You'll Do
- →The Central Virginia VA Health Care System (CVHCS) is a level 1a 349-bed facility offering primary, secondary, and tertiary health care in medicine, surgery, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, intermediate care, acute and sustaining spinal cord injury, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care.
- →The location is in Richmond, Virginia.
- →There are four community-based outpatient clinics located in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Emporia and Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and a strong affiliation with the Medical College of Virginia.

- →Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions to units/programs in the Medical Center to which they are assigned and has clinical privileges to practice including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management.
- →Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
- →Orders, diagnostic tests and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
- →Ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice psychiatric guidelines, VISN standards, National statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education and HIPAA policies.
- →Work Schedule: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
