Physician - Staff Anesthesiologist

About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026 or until all positions are filled.
- →The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 15 June 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks.
- →Eligible applications received after that date will be referred to at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.

- →Major Duties and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to: Staff Anesthesiologist is responsible administratively to Chief, Surgical Service, for assuring the most effective delivery of care in the perioperative setting while meeting or exceeding compliance standards.
- →Staff Anesthesiologist reports to the Chief Anesthesiologist for clinical duties including daily work assignments, clinics, and call schedules.
- →Follows the administrative components of patient care management as noted in facility by-laws and policies.
- →Supervises CRNAs: a.
- →Per VHA Directive 1123, the team leader should be the professional with the most advanced training.
- →The team leader will provide guidance, instruction, direction, and leadership to ensure optimal perioperative patient care.
- →The team leader will always take into consideration the input and opinions of the other team members in decision making. b.
- →Supervision of CRNAs, who function with scope of practice.
- →This includes during regular tour of duty, and during after-hours (after tour of duty, weekends, holidays).
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓A drug test is required for this position, and the position is subject to random drug testing.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
