About the Role

Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by HA Education Loan Repayment Services program after complete review of the EDRP application. What You'll Do

  • The Duties of the Anesthesiologist are as follows, but not limited to: Provide comprehensive Anesthesia services as well as follow-up care of existing conditions and management of emergency conditions.
  • Provide peri-operative care including pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anesthetic administration, and monitoring of post-anesthesia care in compliance with national accreditation standards; participates in Ward/ICU/Hospital rounds for surgical patients and other relevant activities.
  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to CRNA, Nursing, and other medical staff in the administration of the Anesthesia programs.
  • Involved with clinical care, bedside, and didactic teaching of residents, in consultation and collaboration with a wide variety of surgeons and other specialists; educating Residents and Students in the principles and therapy of basic and complex Anesthesia cases; including lecture.
  • Documents services through appropriate notes, such as History and Physical and Anesthesia Consultation notes.
  • Provide Morbidity and Mortality information and documentation as needed.

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
