About the Role
The Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) physician to work within the Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders (SCI/D) Center. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

- →Responsibilities of this position are expected to include participating in all aspects of SCI/D care including, but not limited to inpatient attending physician, inpatient consultation, outpatient specialty clinic care and various virtual care modalities.
- →You will also participate in the on-call service for PM&R and SCI/D.
- →The Minneapolis SCI/D Center is one of 25 VA SCI/D Centers contributing to the mission of providing a coordinated life-long continuum of services for Veterans with a spinal cord injury or disorder.
- →Opened in 2009, serving as a SCI/D System of Care hub site for the upper-Midwest catchment area.
- →The Minneapolis SCI/D Center has 26 inpatient operating beds, a large outpatient multidisciplinary clinical area, an assistive technology center, and therapeutic pool.
- →The center also maintains a dedicated staff of over 100 employees including rehabilitation nurses, pharmacists, social workers, psychologists, and a dedicated SCI/D therapy team including physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapists.
- →The Minneapolis SCI/D Center has a strong education program including serving as a dedicated rotation site for the University of Minnesota's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Residency Program, as well as hosting medical students and other health professional trainees.
- →In addition to the specialty care and consultative support available within a 1a VA facility, the SCI/D Center is closely affiliated with the Minneapolis VA PM&R Department which includes specialty programs in brain injury, stroke, general rehabilitation, diagnostic EMG, musculoskeletal and comprehensive pain care.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
