About the Role
The Lt. Col. Luke Weathers, Jr., VAMC is recruiting for a Section Chief of Radiation Oncology Physician. The position is accountable to the Chief of Radiology, for assuring the most effective delivery of state-of-the-art care by meeting or exceeding compliance standards. This position is 70% Clinical and 30% Administrative.
What You'll Do
- →The Section Chief, Radiation-Oncology provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership for the Radiation-Oncology Section to ensure achievement of the clinical, research, and education goals and applicable performance measures.
- →The Section Chief, Radiation-Oncology is accountable for the delivery of all health care by the staff of the Radiation-Oncology Service.
- →This responsibility includes the administration, management, and leadership of the entire Radiation-Oncology.
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves on a variety of medical center planning committees, advisory groups and chartered action teams.
- →Oversees clinical and administrative performance measures.
- →Assists with service line strategic planning, budget and resource management.
- →Assist with developing formal, systematic improvement plans for quality measures, access and medical services delivery.
- →Supports liaison with affiliated schools regarding medical teaching issues and provider appointments.
- →Oversees the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements using programs data-driven quality assurance processes.
- →Assures radiation oncology program is compliant with applicable Federal and State laws.
- →Oversees the management of Veteran complaints and issues.
- →Contributes to the development of program goals and objectives to meet VHA Radiation Oncology Care requirements.
- →Participates in performance appraisals of staff and addresses disciplinary issues.
- →Participates in clinical teaching.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
