About the Role
The Physician-Section Chief Cardiology position is located in the Specialty Care service of the Martinsburg West Virginia VA Medical Center.
What You'll Do

- →Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

- →Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
- →Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
- →Proactively communicates with the Medical Staff Department, the Chief of Staff and other members of the team to assure optimum results.
- →Provides oversight on Cardiology regarding: consultations, evaluating clinic inpatients and outpatients, and interpreting diagnostic tests such as treadmill, nuclear scanning, echocardiography, pacemakers and Holter Monitors.
- →Insures that physicians provide optimum patient care by assessing the skill set of physician's diagnostic and treatment plans, performance and documentation of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within their scope of individual privileges.
- →Participates in staff evaluations, communications and counseling.
- →May also be assigned to perform other clinical duties as assigned within the service and by the Chief of Service or Chief of Staff.
- →Represents the interests of the unit to appropriate committees.
- →Responsible for and participates in educational programs for the inpatient unit personnel.
- →Updates and develops inpatient policies and procedures.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- ✓The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed.
