About the Role
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
What You'll Do
- →This position for a board-certified Hematologist/Oncologist is approved with the goal of primarily treating patients with multiple myeloma, an Agent Orange-associated malignancy and the treatment of other benign and malignant hematologic diseases.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.

- →Medical Oncologists work in the inpatient and outpatient settings where they interpret test results and diagnose as well as treat malignancies.
- →Medical Oncologists work with other clinicians within a multidisciplinary team to evaluate and treat patients.
- →Hematology is a constantly developing area of medicine and provides scope for clinical and laboratory experience.
- →SUPERVISORY CONTROLS The Hematologist/Oncologist functions under the Chief of the Hematology-Oncology Section, the ACOS, Medicine Service and the Chief of Staff.
- →Compliance with all health care system policies, rules, regulations, and by-laws is expected.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
