Physician (Regular Ft )-Transplant Nephrologist

About the Role
The staff physician is responsible for pre- and post-transplant care of patients with kidney disease being evaluated and undergoing kidney transplantation. This includes establishing, meeting and continuously monitoring the goals and objectives while maintaining alignment with the strategic goals and objectives for Washington DC VA Medical Center in collaboration with MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Provides transplant knowledge, experience, and creates and maintains an environment of patient and family-centered care.
- →Incorporates Department of Veterans Affairs vision, missions and values in goals and programs within Kidney Transplant Service.
- →Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.
- →Formulates objectives, goals and strategies collaboratively with other stakeholders.
- →CLINICAL Provides coverage for inpatient and outpatient care for patients with kidney disease commensurate with his/her time and area of specialization, providing direct patient care.
- →This includes both general nephrology, call coverage and transplant nephrology as determined based on clinical needs with chief of nephrology and chief of transplant services.

Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
