About the Role
The Central Arkansas VA Healthcare System is seeking a staff physician with pulmonary disease and critical care medical disorders. The incumbent should have a strong interest in critical care, lung cancer, COPD, general pulmonary disease and lung research. Research opportunities are available if desired.

- →The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) consists of two inpatient campuses located at Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas.

- →Perform outpatient consultations for pulmonary disease.
- →Provide inpatient consultations for pulmonary disease.
- →Perform invasive procedures for which s/he has been trained and granted privileges.
- →May admit ICU patients, as the primary attending for patients with pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine disorders including management acute respiratory failure requiring mechanically assisted ventilation, management of COVID-19 pneumonia and ARDS, management of sepsis and shock, and others Interpret pulmonary function tests.
- →May participate in Clinical education in the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine.
- →Administrative Duties: Serve as medical director of the medical ICU.
- →Participate in the educational programs for the ICU unit personnel as well as the medical staff.
- →Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
