The Deputy Associate Chief of Staff (DACOS) for Primary Care & Outpatient Clinics (PCOC) oversees the provision of Primary Care services throughout the healthcare system. The position directly supervises Regional Chief Medical Officer.
What You'll Do
- →This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.
- →You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
- →Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.
- →Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

- →Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): Authorized.

- →Oversees the development and implementation of operational clinical programs, policies and procedures that address issues and provide standards relevant to the delivery of primary and specialty care at the satellite and community-based outpatient clinics.
- →Promotes the provision of easy access to medical knowledge, expertise, and care for veteran patients through sharing/consolidating services between outpatient facilities and the NF/SG medical centers.
- →Participates in direct patient care and serves as a role model for peers.
- →Plays a central role in developing and coordinating internal review systems to ensure that both clinical and administrative activities are in compliance with agency and accrediting regulatory requirements.
- →Ensures effective integration of outpatient clinic efforts/activities with other medical center operations, VISN 8 and VHA initiatives, and with community-based agencies and activities.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
