About the Role
This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), McGuire/Richmond VA Medical Center (VAMC)/ (VISN 6) Department of Neurology. The successful candidate will serve as a Neurologist and provide and maintain a high level of quality inpatient and outpatient care services in all aspects of acute and chronic neurology and movement disorders.
What You'll Do
- →This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026 or until all positions are filled.
- →The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be 15 June 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks.
- →Eligible applications received after that date will be referred to at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.
- →The incumbent's duties include (but are not limited to) the provision of neurologic evaluation and treatment of Veterans with compassion on both an inpatient and outpatient basis along with the education and counseling of Veterans and their families on medical conditions/treatments.
- →BLS certification is required.
- →The Incumbent shall keep all information concerning VA beneficiaries confidential.
- →Information will not be disclosed to any person, except as authorized in writing and according to all applicable laws.
- →Major Duties and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to: Clinical duties also include overseeing the Neurology Consult service.
- →While on the Neurology Consult service, obligations will likely include supervision of residents and medical students, supervision of inpatient procedures, and teaching of the housestaff and students.
- →Responsibilities include expanded use of clinical video telehealth (CVT)/electronic consultation (eConsult) to improve access to neurological care to foster education and improve care.
- →The Neurologist works within his or her privileges at all times.
- →The Neurologist is expected to maintain current knowledge and skills.
- →He or she must be able to deliver interventions throughout the full spectrum of neurological care; i.e. s/he is expected to maintain good diagnostic and therapeutic acumen.
- →The staff Neurologist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship: non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓A drug test is required for this position, and the position is subject to random drug testing.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
