About the Role
The Muskogee OK VA is currently recruiting for a Hospitalist to provide inpatient intermittent care within the Emergency Medicine Service line.

- →Please watch to learn more about the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System- Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System The incumbent will be part of the Facility's Hospitalist Team and his/her duties include, but are not limited to: Admits and manages inpatients including patients, including in the Intensive Care Unit, with general adult medical illnesses.
- →This includes admitting patients and performing histories and physical examinations; rounding on patients and writing progress notes; discharge planning and timely completion of discharge summaries.
- →Works closely with specialists and primary care Physicians to ensure that inpatients receive continuous high-quality care.
- →Coordinates the transfer of patients with other hospitals if necessary.
- →Provides inpatient internal medicine consultations to other services, including but not limited to, Mental Health, Rehab, and Surgery.
- →Participates in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.
- →Communicates with incoming and off going Hospitalists to ensure continuity of care.
- →Attends Medical Service staff meetings and meeting of the Medical/Dental staff whenever scheduling allows.
- →Serves on Medical Staff committees.
- →Completes all medical records (including discharge summaries) in accordance with Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.
- →Ability to participate in the teaching of medical residents and students.
- →Ability to perform minor bedside procedures (Central venous access / paracentesis / thoracentesis / vent management), preferred.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
