About the Role
The VA Central Iowa Healthcare System is recruiting for (1) full-time Physician - Gynecologist at the South Des Moines VA Clinic, IA.

- →Duties of the position include: Physician should have expertise in conditions that are more common in women, unique to women, or have gender specific manifestations.
- →It is recommended that Designated Women's Health Providers have experience and/or training in these areas.
- →Provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with Gynecologic conditions.
- →Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record system May be tasked to travel to Community Based Outpatient Clinics as requested/assigned by the ACOS-SC.
- →May be asked to participate in facility, VISN or National workgroups and/or committees.
- →Provide Electronic Consultation services (E-Consults) and reviews consults for determination if appropriate for Care in the Community or local/regional VA services.
- →Ensure compliance with VA policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical guidelines and best practices.
- →Engage in continuing education and professional development activities to maintain board certification and clinical competence.
- →Provide supervision and education to students and other trainees, as applicable Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare providers within the VA clinic.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
- ✓Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- ✓Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents).
- ✓Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment.
- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
